Be Responsible For Yourself
You are responsible for your own safety. Our trips are simply organised so like minded adults can enjoy tramping together.
We do not offer guided trips or have paid membership. If you want to be guided then this group is not for you!
Intentions Sheet
📢 Telling people exactly where you are going and when you expect to be back is a key safety activity. And there’s a website that makes it especially easy to get this process right:

You can also use this website: https://mountainsafety.org.nz/plan-my-trip/
It’s also good practice to fill your group details into the hut books. This will be the first place that LAND SAR will look should the unexpected happen.
Personal Locator Beacons

Taking a Personal Locator Beacon (PLBs) on your trip is akin to putting a seatbelt on when you drive.
They start at about $329.00 to purchase.
PLB’s are also relatively cheap (from about around $10 a day or so) to rent, especially when you spread the cost between a group.
Locally, Bivouac and other stores have PLBs for sale and rent.
The following sites offer PLBs for sale and rent, and either have local outlets or will courier a PLB to you:

First Aid
Everyone should have a Basic First Aid Kit. It should contain any personal medication you require. You should also advise your event host of any medical conditions that you have.
It’s also good to keep your personal details in the top of your First Aid Kit.
Download this form, 🖨️ print it, fill it in and put it in your First Aid Kit.
First Aid Smartphone App
Regardless of your First Aid Skills it’s recommended that you have this App on your Smartphone
